U.S. President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs hit hard on Hong Kong bourse, with the midday slump worsening. The HSI shattered below 20,000-mark, down 2,892 points or 12.7%, to 19,957. The HSCEI tumbled 1,082 points or 12.9%, to 7,337, while the HSTECH slid 875 points or 16.5%, to 4,437. WUXI BIO (02269.HK) and LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) plunged 25.5% and 23.6%, respectively. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK) cratered 21.8%. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK), WUXI APPTEC (02359.HK) and SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) sagged over 19%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), ALI HEALTH (00241.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), LI AUTO-W (02015.HK), CHOW TAI FOOK (01929.HK), and BABA-W (09988.HK) shrank 16-17%.
