Trump Says Now the Perfect Time for Fed to Cut Rates

US President Donald Trump has called on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to cut rates. Trump said in the posting on Truth Social that now is the perfect time for Powell to cut rates. He also added that Powell is always a step behind, but he can change this perception right away.

However, Powell responded that tariffs have way exceeded expectations, and that the Fed should observe the situation before cutting rates.

According to the FedWatch tool, traders now expect the Fed to cut rates at least four times this year, with each cut being a quarter percentage point.
