Hong Kong stocks waned this morning (6 May) after nine consecutive gains. HSI declined 9 points or 0.05% to 18,466 points at midday. HSCEI fell 17 points or 0.3% to 6,529. HSTECH decremented 1 point or 0.03% to 3,970. Half-day turnover totalled $80.066 billion.

For Auto stocks, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) proposed to offer car purchase discounts of up to RMB18,000 for all models of its Dynasty series, and its share price closed flat at $226.4. Peers XPENG-W (09868.HK) and LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK) descended 3.9% and 5.2%. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) subsidiary Zeekr will go public in the US, and GEELY intends to spend US$320 million to subscribe for its shares. GEELY slumped 1.8%. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) saw the cumulative orders for its Li L6 topping 41,000 units during 3 weeks of sale, and its shares hiked 6.5%.

Among tech stocks, BABA-SW (09988.HK) dipped 0.1% to $79.1, TENCENT (00700.HK) elevated 0.9% to $367.6, while JD-SW (09618.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) dropped 0.6% and 0.2%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) reduced 1.1% to 1.2%, while KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) reduced 1.9% and NTES-S (09999.HK) gained 1.4%. KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK) and EAST BUY (01797.HK) retreated more than 3%.

Foxconn's April revenue hit a historic high for all Aprils, and mobile phone-related stocks were boosted. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK), COWELL (01415.HK) and FIH (02038.HK) rallied 4.5% to 6%.

Consumer stocks developed individually, LI NING (02331.HK) and NONGFU SPRING (09633.HK) faltered 5% and 3%, TSINGTAO BREW (00168.HK) lifted 4.2%, while WH GROUP (00288.HK), MENGNIU DAIRY (02319.HK) and TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK) mounted 3% to 3.2%.
